Jasmine taught us a thing or two about life

In 2014, we were out buying Jasmine plants for Thai Mother’s Day and whilst searching for the perfect plant, suddenly this skeletal kitten ran out and in a total panic one of us dashed to the grocery shop to grab a can of cat food whilst the other kept tabs on the kitten. After a bit of a chase the good food stopped her in her tracks and we seized the opportunity to pick her up

The first few days I (Lisa) slept on the bathroom floor next to her, feeding her and keeping her warm. We didn’t know if she’d survive but the connection was instant - the more love she got the more we felt her will to live intensify. Eventually this skeleton transformed into a beautiful soul we named Jasmine. Jasmine loved to play volleyball (not joking) and fetch the paper ball. She was also one of Chef New’s biggest fans

Jasmine taught us that love, time and patience can transform a life. In the later stages of her life, she also showed us what never giving up looks like. Sounds strange but after coming out of a tumultuous period with the restaurant back then her message resonated

Diagnosed with spine cancer during lockdown (early 2020), she stunned us with her ability to adapt to her decreasing mobility. For example, happily dragging herself from one side of the room to the other demanding her special food - huge fresh Prawns. Grilled and slightly seasoned. If you boiled them or if they were even a day old, she’d hit the 1 star on Google! Chef New used to say: “Only grilled and fresh for my daughter na ja!” Funny thing is, the Prawns were bigger than the ones we use in the restaurant!

In November 2020 Jasmine became an angel. Tonight, we finally had the courage to look into her beautiful eyes again and put the framed photo of her on the wall in the restaurant

Next time you pop in ask us and we’ll show you our Jasmine
